Summer Cooking for Older Kids: Sushi

Let the kids learn how to make dinner for you! In this class, you will learn to roll sushi on mat, to use tempura batter to fry, and to artfully plate your sushi. With a little practice and our chef’s helpful hints, you will learn how easy it is to make sushi in your own kitchen! Whether you are preparing your child to fly the nest and want him to learn to make inexpensive, healthy meals, or whether you just want to hang out with her in a fun interactive setting, our Monday evening summer series is for you! Come hungry because you will be enjoying your sushi creations!

Ages: This series is appropriate for children 12 or older coming alone, or adults coming with a child 10 or older.

Menu:
*Tuna Avocado Mango Maki — Simple yet delicious tuna elevated with avocado and mango!
Spicy Kani Salad Roll — Avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber inside, topped with krab salad
*Philadelphia Roll — A rolled sushi made with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber
Clear Soup — Traditional soup with mushrooms and scallions
Tempura Vegetables — Assorted vegetables lightly fried and served with yum yum sauce

Pricing:
$75: per person
Chef’s Kitchen: Guests in the Chef’s Kitchen cook the same menu as the rest of the class; however, they use the gas cooktop and convection ovens in the Chef’s Kitchen, and they dine at a special table set up for just them.

Cooking Station Assignments:
Two or three people who register together will cook the menu items with each other. Our goal is to have guests do as much as possible in the time allotted given the restrictions of appliances and cooktop space. If you purchase a single adult ticket, you will be assigned to work at a station with another person who purchases a single ticket.

Each person (adult and child) will receive enough ingredients to prepare a generous portion of every menu item or one cake per person for cake decorating classes.

Gratuity:
Leaving a gratuity is not required but appreciated if you enjoyed your cooking experience.
