Let Your Children Do the Cooking

In our cooking series, children learn to cook by actually preparing the menu items themselves each day, not by watching someone else cook. When children cook food, they are more likely to try what they have prepared. At the end of each class, the kids enjoy the food they have prepared.

AGES: The series is intended for kids ages 7 and above. Please note: in order to ensure the maximum benefit for all children, your child must be capable of following directions and cooperating with others in the class.

Morning series

Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
March 22, 29, April 5, 19, 26 (No class April 12), 2023

Whether your child is a novice or has experience in the kitchen, this series will help him/her advance in culinary skills and confidence. Concepts of math and science are woven into the cooking instruction.

Price: $290 for entire 5 week series 

 

CLASS SIZE LIMIT: Due to the level of individualized attention, we can accommodate a maximum of 18 children per session.

Afternoon series

Mondays, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
March 27, April 3, 10, 17, 24

This series is intended for children ages 7 or older. We teach basic culinary skills to the novice cook and provide those with some culinary experience with opportunities to advance their skills and increase their confidence.

Price: $300 for entire 5 week series

No studying required!

Curriculum

In our cooking series, all classes are hands-on, and the kids eat what they make each day. Yum! In our collaborative environment, we:

• Promote kitchen safety, including hand and workspace sanitizing, proper food handling, and knife safety
• Practice math by following recipes and measuring ingredients 
• Arrange the kitchen workplace for success
• Discuss food science, nutrition, and keeping our bodies healthy
• Explore the importance of sustainability and eating what is in season
• Encourage creativity in reusing or repurposing ingredients already on hand
• Become experts in cleaning up the kitchen
• Have fun as a team!

MENU FOR CHILDREN’S FIVE WEEK SERIES:

Italian (Week 1)
Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza Bombs with House-Made Marinara Sauce
Caprese Salad with Guest-made Balsamic Vinaigrette
Soft Italian Cookies Dipped in a Creamy Vanilla Glaze and Topped with Colorful Sprinkles

French (Week 2) 
Sweet and Savory Pate Choux–kids will make pate choux dough and use it to make ham and cheese sandwiches and eclairs frosted with house-made chocolate ganache
Pastry Cream
Crème Brulée with Supervised Child-Bruléed Sugar Topping

Sweet and Savory Baking (Week 3)
Berry hand pies with kid-made Pie dough with vanilla glaze and sprinkles
Cheeseburger cups–sauteed ground beef baked in a puff pastry crust topped with cheese
Snickerdoodles

Asian (Week 4)
Philadelphia Roll Sushi (Krab, avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber)–kids roll sushi on a mat
Chicken Teriyaki
Fried Rice

American Classics (Week 5)
Corn Dog Nuggets with Honey-mustard Dipping Sauce and Ketchup
Oven-baked Fries
Strawberry-filled Cupcakes Frosted with Kid-Made Strawberry Buttercream Frosting
