Summer Cooking for Older Kids: An Evening in Paris

Join us at JAX Cooking Studio and reminisce of sitting in a French bistro enjoying the delightful sights and sounds of Paris. We will use classic French recipes to craft both sweet and savory dishes. From a croque madam to eclairs, you’ll feel like you’re in Paris! Whether you are preparing your child to fly the nest and want him to learn to make inexpensive, healthy meals, or whether you just want to hang out with her in a fun interactive setting, our Monday evening summer series is for you! Bon appétit!
Ages:Â This series is appropriate for children 12 or older coming alone, or adults coming with a child 10 or older.
Menu:
Summer Tart with Bacon, Mushrooms, Goat Cheese, Fresh Arugula, and Truffle Oil
Croque Madam –  a delightful sandwich made of brioche stuffed with gruyere, ham, a soft-fried sunny side up egg, and béchamel sauce
Parisian Salad – A beautiful salad of cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, red onion, radish, candied nuts with a Dijon vinaigrette, side salad for the croque madam
Cream Puffs and Eclairs – we’ll finish on a sweet note by making Pate Choux dough into pastries filled with sweet cream and glazed with rich chocolate ganache
Pricing:
$75: per person
Chef’s Kitchen: Guests in the Chef’s Kitchen cook the same menu as the rest of the class; however, they use the gas cooktop and convection ovens in the Chef’s Kitchen, and they dine at a special table set up for just them.
Cooking Station Assignments:
Two or three people who register together will cook the menu items with each other. Our goal is to have guests do as much as possible in the time allotted given the restrictions of appliances and cooktop space. If you purchase a single adult ticket, you will be assigned to work at a station with another person who purchases a single ticket.
Each person (adult and child) will receive enough ingredients to prepare a generous portion of every menu item or one cake per person for cake decorating classes.
Gratuity:
Leaving a gratuity is not required but appreciated if you enjoyed your cooking experience.
