What better way to use the bounty of summer’s fresh produce than by making pies, both savory and sweet? Get ready to mix, roll, and bake in this hands-on class. Our pastry chef will share tips for making tender, flaky crusts and baking them to golden perfection. Then the pie-fun begins as we enjoy the fruits of our labor at the JAX Cooking Studio communal tables. Each guest will make a lattice-top fruit pie to take home to impress family and friends with their newly-acquired skills.
Menu and Skills:
Bumbleberry Lattice Top Pie: You’ll learn to make and roll out pie dough for a flaky crust and to create an impressive lattice top presentation.
Tomato Tart with Olive Oil Crust: We will discuss flavor combinations using seasonal vegetables to create tarts that are meals unto themselves.
Seasonal Fruit Crostata with Shortbread Crust: There is something very comforting about the look and taste of rustic crostatas. The chef will share tips for selecting the best seasonal fruits.
Each guest will receive a complete recipe packet to use in creating pies aplenty at home!
