SUMMARY:Gateway Girl Scouts Cooking Experience
DESCRIPTION:In our field and scout trips\, the kids get hands-on experience in the kitchen. We teach the important life skill of cooking along with concepts of math and science. When they’ve finished cooking\, the children get to eat the food they prepared. Education and a meal are all wrapped into one fun experience!!! \nFIELD TRIPS INCLUDE:\nUse of JAX Cooking Studio for 2 hours.\nChef-led instruction and supervision of hands-on cooking class.\nAll ingredients needed for menu items.\nStudents eat the food they have prepared.\nIced tap water available at each table.\nRecipes for students to take home.\nUse of JAX Cooking Studio aprons during the event. \nMENU:\nA personal pizza (students make dough and use house-made marinara sauce\, vegetables\, cooked chicken\, and cheese to top their pizzas). Kids also make and decorate sugar cookies. \nWHAT THE VISIT LOOKS LIKE:\nDuring the cooking session\, we review how to read the recipes and have the students practice that aloud.\nWe discuss the importance of mise en place (“everything in its place”) before beginning to cook to ensure that all the necessary ingredients and utensils/appliances are available to the home cook.\nWe review how to measure correctly and the students practice this as they make the recipes. \nPAYMENT TERMS\nFifty percent of minimum charge is required as a deposit to reserve a date and time.\nFinal guest count is due five business days before event. This number determines balance due on day of event and may not be reduced after guest count deadline\nBalance due collected day of event.\nIf event is canceled 20 days prior to event date\, a JAX Cooking Studio credit valid for one year will be issued. No credit or refunds will be issued for events canceled later than 20 days prior to the scheduled event.
