In our cooking series\, all classes are hands-on\, and children eat what they each make.\nWe will teach the kids the following as appropriate for the menu being cooked each week:\n1. how to be safe in the kitchen\, including hand and workspace sanitizing\, proper food handling including how to wash food\, and knife safety; temperature danger zone;\n2. how to read and follow a recipe;\n3. how to arrange the kitchen workplace so that all the items needed for the recipe are located and placed nearby;\n4. how to accurately measure ingredients using measuring cups and measuring spoons and about measuring equivalents;\n5. how to bake/roast\, stew/braise\, stir-fry\, make sauces and soups;\n6. the difference between whole and processed foods and how each affects health;\n7. the importance of sustainability and eating what is in season;\n8. how to reuse or repurpose ingredients already on hand; and\n9. how to clean up the kitchen.

DESCRIPTION:This event is available for booking for a child’s birthday party or scouting cooking experience. To select the date and time\, add the ticket to your cart and proceed to the checkout page to pay the deposit.  \nThis kids’ cooking class includes:\n• 2 hours of chef-led instruction and supervision of hands-on cooking class\n• All ingredients for menu items; kids eat what they make and take home left-overs\n• Iced tap water\n• Use of JAX Cooking Studio aprons during the party \nMenu choices\nSavory and Sweet Option:\nChoose one savory item:\nPersonal pizza (kids make dough and house makes marinara sauce)\nBeef tacos topped with cheese\, sautéed veggies\, and kid-made guacamole and salsa\nBaked Mac-n-Cheese with ham and from-scratch cheesy bechamel sauce\nCheeseburger sliders topped with bacon\, pickles\, tomatoes\, onions\, lettuce\, ketchup\, and BBQ sauce \nChoose one sweet item:\nFour from-scratch cupcakes (kids frost cupcakes using pastry bags filled with house-made icing)\nDesign your own chocolate chip cookies using an assortment of fun edible add-ins\nVanilla cake balls dipped in chocolate and topped with fun sprinkles\nHomemade pop tarts with from-scratch pie dough and decorated with frosting and sprinkles \nSweets Only Option — Choose two:\nEight from-scratch cupcakes (kids frost cupcakes using pastry bags filled with house-made icing)\nTray of brownies frosted with house-made chocolate glaze and sprinkles\nDesign your own chocolate chip cookies using an assortment of fun edible add-ins\nHomemade pop tarts with from-scratch pie dough and decorated with frosting and sprinkles\nSugar cookie fruit tarts with fresh berries and pastry cream \nOptional Add-ons:\n• Assortment of juice\, bottled water\, and milk: $3 per person.\n• Grazing Board (selection of cheeses\, meats\, dried & fresh fruits\, crackers\, & jam) with Crostini (serves ~5): $65\n• Mimosas (serve up to 8 people): $30. \nPricing and Policies:\n• $650 for up to ten children. Each additional guest is $60.\n• Fifty percent of minimum charge is required to reserve a date. Balance is due on day of the event.\n• Final guest count due 7 days before event and may not be reduced after this date.\n• If event is canceled 30 days before scheduled event\, a credit valid for one year will be issued.
