School Field Trip

In our field trips, we offer children a hands-on cooking class which combines learning the important life skill of cooking with concepts of math, science. The children also express their creativity through their edible creations! When the kids are done cooking, they sit down to enjoy the food they prepared at our communal tables.
FIELD TRIPS INCLUDE:
Use of JAX Cooking Studio for 90 minutes.
Chef-led instruction and supervision of hands-on cooking class.
All ingredients needed for menu items.
Students eat the food they have prepared.
Iced tap water available at each table.
Recipes for students to take home.
Use of JAX Cooking Studio aprons during the event.
MENU CHOICES (choose one):
A personal pizza (students make dough and marinara sauce, and top their pizzas with vegetables, cooked chicken, and cheese; we place the pizzas in the ovens and allow the kids to see as they bake)
Quesadilla, choice of vegetable or chicken (students make guacamole and salsa and assemble the quesadilla; we demonstrate how to cook the quesadillas on the cooktop).
WHAT THE VISIT LOOKS LIKE:
During the cooking session, we review how to read the recipes and have the students practice that aloud.
We discuss the importance of mise en place (“everything in its place”) before beginning to cook to ensure that all the necessary ingredients and utensils/appliances are available to the home cook.
We review how to measure correctly and the students practice this as they make the recipes.
PAYMENT TERMS FOR ALL SPECIAL EVENTS:
50% deposit due at time of booking.
Final guest count and remaining payment due three days before event.
If event is canceled 20 days prior to event date, a JAX Cooking Studio credit valid for one year will be issued. No credit or refunds will be issued for events canceled later than 20 days prior to the scheduled event.
