Cooking for a Cause: SoCal Mexican Fusion Cuisine
December 8, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm$60
In our Cooking for a Cause Series, JAX Cooking Studio selects a worthy cause to support. One hundred percent of the registration and other donations received related to this class go directly to support the cause. We opened the cooking studio in mid-2018 and are grateful for the support shown by our community and the blessings that have come our way. Now it is our pleasure to help support organizations trying to make a positive difference in the lives of others. For more information on our Cooking for a Cause events, please complete this form.
About the Cooking Class:
Explore the deliciousness of Southern California/Mexican Fusion cuisine in this hands-on cooking class. The chef will teach you to make a skillet-queso that will leave you wanting to scrape up every last bit with tortilla chips! Then we move on to the entree–fish tacos with salsa verde and cilantro lime slaw. As a bonus, guests learn to prepare their own tortillas from scratch. And to celebrate the season, we finish on a sweet note with pumpkin spiced churro ice-cream sandwiches. Enjoy a fun way to end the weekend and support a wonderful cause!
Complimentary wine is served during the cooking experience.
Poblano Skillet Queso — poblano peppers have amazing flavor without a large amount of heat, and they make this skillet queso extra special! Served with tortilla chips.
SoCal Fish Tacos — seared white fish with salsa verde and cilantro lime slaw. Guests will also prepare their own corn tortillas from scratch!
Pumpkin Spiced Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches — deliciously spiced churros with pumpkin ice cream. The chef will demo these delicious desserts for you to devour. YUM!
About the Cause: Pastor Clifton Stanton and his wife Kati, and their two children uprooted their comfortable lives in Jacksonville, Florida, where they were surrounded by family, friends, and a welcoming church. After spending their past 7 years in ministry at Church of Eleven22, Clifton and Kati knew God was preparing them for a new season. They moved to Encinitas, California, where they knew no one to plant a church and spread God’s message of love and belonging as full time missionaries. Redline Church is a place where you can belong before you believe. Their hope is that in addition to other faithful churches, Redline Church will help spread hope, show love, and encourage others to follow Jesus. Someone will be in attendance at the class to answer any questions and provide more information about Redline and its goals.
What will the Funds Support? All funds being donated to Redline Church are used to build relationships in Encinitas, create environments to gather and worship together, and provide for the needs of the community. Redline Church is a 501(c)(3) entity, and any funds donated directly to Redline, not including the cost of the class registration which is not tax deductible, will receive a tax deduction from the Church.
